If you look at Opening Night by the cold, hard numbers then it wasn’t a pretty sight for American Idol as Season 10 kicked off.

By the numbers:
11 percent: amount on the Nielsen ratings that American Idol dipped on opening night.
26.1 million: number of viewers on opening night, down 13 percent from a year ago.
18 percent: drop in the 18-49 age group viewers.
Note: That is the lowest rated AI opening night since 2002 and the biggest drop ever for AI between seasons.
29 percent: Decline in teen viewers.
