So how does 12 minus 9 equal 31? Only on American Idol, that’s how.

Idol had its lowest ratings in just about forever this past season – Season 12.

So, when ticket sale dropped like a lead balloon for the annual Idol Summer Tour something had to give and it was 9 of the dates being cancelled.

And that was from a starting point of 40 dates and now there are only 31.

All that clear so far.?

Two of the dates were in California – Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario and Oracle Arena in Oakland. The other seven were stops in St. Louis, Kansas City, Minneapolis, Detroit, Tulsa, Okla., Broomfield, Colo. and Las Vegas.

All of that pushed the opening date for the Tour back to July 19 from June 29.

Next shoe to fall will be the attendance at the remaining sites.
