Idol notes from V (Vegas) to Z (Zoanette)….

We will go backward on this starting with Zoanette Johnson. At the moment her selection as one of the Top 10 female contestants is a travesty. She is no more or less talented than any of the other past “joke” contestants who could sing very little but
attracted attention with their schtick. All were eliminated far before the Top
20. But AI host Ryan Seacrest doesn’t see it that way. He recently told the Hollywood.com: “My take is that (her performance) was full of volume from the hair to the voice, and I didn’t forget about it. The more you see her, she’s actually like this den mother with the contestants. They all hang out with her.” As you might note, Mr. Seacrest doesn’t embellish her singing ability and we can all be thankful for that…

On to the V portion of the show. The last few AI episodes were taped in Las Vegas and of course here comes the latest Idol rumor from Sin City via the Las Vegas Sun. A revamped and renamed casino – The quad at The Linq – is prepping to host an AI “Winner’s Showcase” show. Linq is the old Imperial Palace and will feature
a 550-foot High Roller observation wheel (don’t quite know what that is but it
sounds good). And if the Idol rumor proves to be true it wouldn’t be just past
winners but you would likely see names like David Archuleta, Carly Smithson,
Casey Abrams and Joshua Ledet perform. If the price of a ticket is right and
the buffet is good, I’d say “This is American Idol Vegas Style!”

From the OMG Winners File … AI winner Lee DeWyze recently played at the Stay Sweet Cupcakery on Market Street in Lewisburg, Pa. for Bucknell University students. “Just play out as frequent as possible, be it a coffee shop or a large stage,” DeWyze
said.  Lee, who once performed in Santa Rosa’s Railroad Squaare, is such a nice kid you almost feel sorry for the former paint salesman who beat out Crystal Bowersox. No word on how many cupcakes he ate…

Candice Glover, a Top 10er this season, is hoping three is a charm in her Idol journey .Of course the AI execs continue to pimp her demise a year ago when Steven Tyler gave her the bad news. This year? Considering the talent level she is probably a lock for a final 10 spot … but wouldn’t it be hilarious if Ms. Johnson and her hairdo got
in her way?
