The World Series opens Wednesday night in St. Louis and guess who will sing the National Anthem?

Yes, this year’s American Idol winner Scotty McCreery.

Did that make David Cook, season 7 excited?

“As a baseball fan, I’m happy for him,” Cook said recently, “but that was a little dig.”

“I thought ‘Damn,’” he said laughing. “But I can’t say that I got short-changed cause I got to do Game 3 of the NBA Finals between the Celtics and the Lakers … but this is the World Series.”

Footnote: Cook, who will appear in Santa Rosa on Thursday is a huge baseball fan, but he also is a fan of the Celtics.
