Heaven and the Neilson ratings help this show if anyone who advanced during Thursday night’s final auditions – from New York City and Puerto Rico – comes even remotely close to winning A-I VIII (just seeing if the Super Bowl fans out there are really paying attention).
And for all you sports fans, here are the numbers: 9 contestants passed from San Juan and gained a yellow ticket to …

This episode from Salt Lake City was basically a three-part play:
1) We got the obligatory Osmond In ‘N Out early. Seriously, in a state (Utah) that has more Osmonds than mountains how were you gonna have a show without at least one auditioner named Osmond;
2) We actually got to watch a couple of contestants with some singing talent;
3) We got the sob story at the end. That didn’t happen in …

Tuesday night we learned the true genius of A-I. The producers took a show that produced less talent than you probably could find at the corner of 4th and Mendo and turned it into a rather amusing hour.
The opening was sorta dedicated to Randy, two auditions into it Kara and Paula staged a faux make-out session, after Day One Simon proclaimed that the talent level as “mostly they were terrible” …

Word also has it that Sarah Durham of Roseland Prep didn’t make it out of the Hollywood round but she was told that she should return next year.
Rules of the competition prohibit contestants from talking about their …

Show No. 4 moved to Louisville, Ky. And if you didn’t know it beforehand, Louisville is home to the Kentucky Derby. By the end of the show you had had about 12 furlongs too many references to the Derby, that’s the bad news; the good news is that you got 19 passes to Hollywood bringing the two-week total to 85 and finally (”At Last” as Etta James would sing) you …

Some Idol tidbits as we get ready for Week 2 Tuesday night:

Don’t quite know how to interpret that, maybe because it was early in the Tour or there was nothing better to do in San Jose the night of July 8th.Nonetheless, the entire Tour brought home over $29 million …
