The American Idol executives didn’t wait long to replace their former top two executive producers of the show.

Over the weekend they summarily dismissed Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick and on Monday morning th0ey announced that Per Blakens is the new executive producer of AI.

For a little over five years, Blakens has been in a similar role with “Idol,”a show in Sweden.

In his parting statement, Lythgoe had this to say: “If the executives that are now in charge of American Idol believe that the ratings will improve with my departure, I have no complaints. It has been a great ride and I’ve loved every moment of it.”

We shall see what Mr. Blakens has in store for AI.

But in meantime, can ABBA be far behind?
