David Archuleta, runnerup on Season 7 of American Idol, comes to Santa Rosa and the Wells Fargo Center for an 8 p.m. Christmas show on Tuesday. And with him he will bring a persona that he’s still a “kid.” Afterall he was 12 years old when he first appeared on Star Search and he was only 17 when he finished second to David Cook on Idol.

“I’ll be 21 the end of this month (Dec. 29),” Archuleta said in a phone interview last week from Idaho. “Can you believe that? And Yeah, yeah. People still think I’m not even old enough to drive.”

He was reminded that he does have that forever young look and after breaking out in a quick rendition of Rod Stewart’s “Forever Young”, Archuleta said, “Maybe I’ll start balding and maybe that will make me look older. People are still thinking I’m 15 or 16.”

He promised that his Tuesday show will be much like the Christmas show he performed here two winters ago, a mix of pop and holiday music.

And despite that youthful look, he expressed his desire to mature as a musician.

“To grow you have to keep surpassing what you think your limits are. You have to continue exceeding your expectations of yourself. And you have to keep growing and in order to do that you have to go out of your comfort zone. Pass what you think is impossible for you to do. I definitely feel that I have grown a lot in the last few years because of that.”
