In a way this night is hard to write about, so we’ll just give you the nuggets on the first night of live shows:

– Ryan Seacrest announced that Casey Abrams is sick and in the hospital. That’s the second time for Casey this season … hummmmmm…

– It was announced that the “save” (ugh!) is back in place and can be used once up to the Final Five.

– Ashthon Jones received the lowest number of votes on Wednesday and was out. She got to sing for her life. She sang “When You Tell Me That You Love Me” to save her, but the judges took like two seconds to tell her goodbye. And that was to be expected no matter how well she sang it. Plenty more to go who should get a second chance … not Ms. Jones…

– The bottom three were: Jones, Karen Rodriguez and Haley Reinhart

– Adam Lambert performed an acoustic version of “Aftermath.”

– David Cook’s cover of “Don’t You Forget About Me” played as we said goodbye to Ashthon.

– This was the first “live” show of the season and all remaining shows will be live. good luck with that one Idol.

– 30 million votes for the first elimination show.
