Lee DeWyze

“Oh, say can you see ….Lee?”

First he was, then he wasn’t.

Lee DeWyze, last year’s American Idol winner and Mt. Prospect, Ill. native, was first rumored to be singing the national anthem at this Sunday’s NFC Championship game in Chicago. Then he wasn’t.

All of a sudden that lead singer was proclaimed to be Jim Cornelison, who sings the song for the Blackhawks’ NHL games.

And Lee was switched to a halftime performance … maybe. Apparently the Bears are still negotiating with Lee.

This has become harder to predict than the outcome of the Bears-Packers game.

But Lee has performed at Arlington Park racecourse in the suburbs of Chicago. Hey, that’s a start.

Stay tuned.

“American Idol,” which starts its 10th season Wednesday night.
