It’s been almost 15 months now and David Cook still doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get the contrived rivalry between himself and American Idol competitor David Archuleta.
“We always felt that it was funny when we were on the show,” Cook told IdolChatter, “that everyone tried to create this ‘David vs. David’ thing. We just didn’t get it.”
The two Davids were the last contestants standing on AI Season 7 and Cook won on May 21, 2008 with 56 percent of the vote. Today both Davids on their concert tours and doing quite well.
“I talk to Archie every couple of weeks,” Cook said. “He’s a great guy. One of the nicest people I think I have ever met.
“I was one of his biggest fans and still am.”
Cook will be performing Aug. 21 on opening night of the California State Fair in Sacramento,

I voted for both Davids right up to the end. Voted for DA in finale, but have alot of respect for DC as well. I’m not surprised that these two remain friends. They are both real, talented, gracious, and humble. Good luck to both.

There is something different about Archuleta. His characteristics are rare to find in today’s world. I have seen all kinds of people, but he sets up his standard very high and refuses to be affected by the world. I am not kidding. He is called ‘angel’ ‘alien’ ‘a person out of this world’ ‘walking jukebox’. etc. McFly band members said “If you find a word ‘nicest’ in a dictionary, you will find ‘Archuleta’ there”. He will do great things for the American music industry.

I respect and admire close friendships. As for music tastes? I am not a rocker fan in any stretch of the imagination but that has nothing to do with David and David being good friends. I truly admire that.

I think it’s awesome that both David’s are friends and you can see that every time they are together or they speak of each other there is a bond there. To compare one over the other is crazy because really it just comes down to your preference of music genres. David Archuleta sings pop and David Cook is rock & roll — but people can enjoy lots of different kind of music. I think they are both awesome guys! I am a diehard “Archie” fan but I totally respect David Cook and wish him well in his career. I loved when both David’s did the Manilla show – that was “epic”…and it was awesome to see them both on stage at the end singing a song together.

This makes me so happy. When it comes to music taste, David Archuleta is and always will be the one I love haha, but when it comes to the relationship these two share, I can’t help but love them both. Both big bro and little bro are awesome <333
