Thoughts that ran through a 62-year-old brain as I watched the field narrow to 7 on Wednesday night…

– What if … Scott had gone last on Tuesday and his performance wasn’t seen by those taping it … and then he had been eliminated, as he was, on Wednesday? Can you say “American Controversy?”

– Frankie Avalon walks out singing his hit song “Venus” from the year Simon was born, ’59. I was 12 then and watching as Frankie walked out on American Bandstand in Philly introduced by Dick Clark. Only thing missing Wednesday night was Annette…

– The group song – “Can’t Get You Out of My Mind” – was terrible.

– There was some making up to Adam for the snafu of cutting the show short on Tuesday, but no one admitted it was a mistake. It would have been a huge kudo for A-I to have fessed up and moved on.

– Maybe it’s my age showing, but what is Flo Rida all about? And I don’t even want to know the lyrics of the song they were performing. But if some other groups want to spin-off on Flo Rida how about Miss Ouri or U Tah or even Louis Iana…

– 34 million votes cast, Scott lost by about 30,000 to Anoop and he didn’t get a save from the judges. Now they have two chances left to use that save cause they can’t do it with the Top 5. If they figure some combination of Anoop, Lil, Kris or Allison will be the Nos. 7 & 6 to go and they’ll have to save one of them, then jettisoning Scott probably was the right thing to do.
